The Good:
1. Fans of C.D. Reiss' other works might recognize the Drazen name. Fiona is the sister of Jonathon from the "Songs Of Submission", and Theresa from "Corruption" series. It is set in the past, Jonathan is still a teenager. Right around the time, the big secret of his series takes place. He shows up here, interacts without taking away from the main show. At the same time a reader gets an unvarnished look at an elite family’s dynamics in depravity, and wealth.

2. Fiona is such a complicated character. Despite her being the embodiment of so many personality peeves, found myself sucked into her story. That speaks to the writing. The key for me was her self-awareness of her flaws without bogging this reader down with too much personal negativity aka whining.

3. Unlike others a good triangle never bothers me. In one corner we have Master Deacon, the template for the BDSM alpha of many erotica readers’ dreams. On the other side there is Elliot, who also happens to be her therapist. Both of them are equally messed up, and perfect.

4. The sexuality explored in this is dark, out the box, and not for those seeking anything sweet. One of Fiona's main addictions is sex, and you get a very raw look of what that actually means. It was uncomfortable at times, but felt extremely real.

The Bad:
1. C.D. Reiss' other books fit more firmly under the romantic erotica umbrella. This not so much. Erotica unbothered with pretty packaging. This will not appeal to everyone.

2. Expect to be triggered in some way by this. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Final Thoughts:
Kind of don't know what I just read because it has me so punch drunk. I can't believe this writer created something featuring so many of my personal hell-nos, yet loved it. This is one that will stay with me for a minute.

Forbidden Kick Use and Break edition by CD Reiss Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

FORBIDDEN will crush, devastate and repair readers hearts. From start to end, this story literally seized my body and soul hostage. The writer’s words took me thru so many emotions- Shock, elation, euphoria, heartbreak… every emotion possible was literally felt in this story. CD Reiss is the queen of emotions for she wrote a spellbinding story that showcases her talent with every word on every page. Fiona appeared to be the most damaged of the family and this book gives a look into why. I do not want to give any spoilers away for this is a book that needs to be read and savored, a book that takes us thru Fiona’s journey. I prayed that Fiona would find the love and help she truly needed and there were 2 men that looked to possibly be the ones to save her but really only one was going to be *her* true savior, her true love and her only hero. Is it going to be dominant Deacon or the hunky Elliot? Speaking for me, I found it hard to pick one but really, there was only going to be one man that was for her . There were many ups and downs which had me on the edge of my seat and guessing who would win Fiona’s heart literally took me to almost the end of the book. There was this huge twist which almost upset the story but I must say, Fiona’s man showed why he was her man. This was a great read and Fiona finally was able to find that HEA that longed was denied her and hopefully lived HEA.

My Rating 4.8 stars *****
I decided to reread this book before reading the Corruption series (Theresa's story) and the Sins Duet (Margie's story). I'm glad I did because I enjoyed this book much more the second time around. Fiona's story is not an easy story to read because she goes through a lot during the course of the 3 books (Kick, Use, Break). Her story begins when she wakes up in a psychiatric facility. She doesn't remember what happened in the days prior to her admission and spends the majority of her stay, during the first 2 books, trying to remember what happened. Fiona has been involved in a relatively long-term D/s relationship with Deacon, but she begins to develop feelings for Elliot who is is her therapist in the inpatient facility. The bulk of the 3 books are told in Fiona’s POV, but Elliot’s POV is included in Use and Break, and there are some chapters in Deacon’s POV in Break. There is a lot that happens during the course of the 3 books. Some of the things that occur are difficult to read because Fiona has a significant history of alcohol and drug use and she engages in a lot of impulsive and risky behaviors. There are scenes of BDSM and erotic bondage. Fiona is raped by someone she knows at the end of the second book and has to deal with the aftereffects of that incident in the third book. During the course of these books, Fiona deals with a lot of different issues, including her family, friendships, and romantic relationships. She also struggles with trying to decide if she wants to give up the partying lifestyle that she is known for a more stable, healthy lifestyle. She is also dealing with conflicting feelings for Deacon and Elliot. Fiona is a pretty amazing woman and shows a tremendous amount of growth during the course of these books. To me, these books are more about her growth than about her romantic relationships, even though her relationships with Deacon and Elliott are integral to her journey. I can’t really say that this was an enjoyable read for me because there are a lot of serious, anxiety-provoking situations that take place. But it is a powerful and emotional journey that ends with Fiona getting her HEA once she decides that she wants to be sober and make the changes that she needs to be happy and healthy.
Intense.
Breathtakingly beautiful story about finding your self-worth in the darkest reaches of both body and mind.

Fiona is lost and drowning in her past full of self-loathing and submission.

Who will save her?

Deacon? The Master who controls her every move until she nearly loses him by her own doing?

Or Elliot? The therapist who is distant and unable to compartmentalize his feelings.

Will someone save Fiona? Will she save herself? Can she even be saved?
