I was so excited to see that Rosalie (Shy's ex) was getting a book and a HEA. And because Rock Chick Daisy's 1001 Dark Nights novella was a good solid story, I was looking forward to this one. But there is no story here. It starts in the middle and we get a stop start KA ramble and back and forth insecure heroine headspace and sex. And it went nowhere. First and foremost, the entire premise is baloney...I really do not and cannot believe that Rosalie, a biker's daughter and girlfriend to two bikers thought that ratting out her man and his club was going to convince her man to "go straight." Come on. Then Rosalie being "in love" with three men back to back..that's not love. And all of it Daddy based. How old is she? Moving on. I loved Snapper, I really did. And after I was told how he and Rosie initially got close I was very disappointed that I didn't get to see it, because that's where this story's oomph was. This book was post action IMO. Yes, we get to see the Chaos old ladies, the KA house decorating, the food, see some of the Chaos dudes and their women, but in the end so what when there was NO STORY here. This was a glorified short the author could've kept on her website as a freebie. And then the epilogue? What the heck was that...written so obtusely to set up a 'suspenseful" and "mysterious" doom and gloom for the next book where for some reason, all hell will break loose (<< which I did not understand, btw!) And it kept going on and on and was pretty incomprehensible. And so very contrived which astounded me coming from this author. And yes, yet again, one more time we hear about the evil Valenzuela villain...how many times are we going to hear about this baaaad guy and the cloud of evil hanging over Chaos and the Colorado gang? I was over it three books ago. And still...his name gets dropped here and there and heavy sigh..so what. Just dumb. Reading this book was a tedious experience and I'm sorry I purchased it. And yes, it pains me to say that, as KA has been a fave since I first started reading ebooks.Tags : Rough Ride: A Chaos Novella - Kindle edition by Kristen Ashley. Rough Ride A Chaos Novella edition by Kristen Ashley Romance eBooks Reviews
‘For years you’ve had a rough ride, what happened recently, just the most recent - with me, that rough ride is gonna end, baby.’
This is only one of the many glorious declarations made by Snapper that illustrates exactly the kind of man Rosalie Holloway is failing for despite the hellish situation she’s gotten herself in and the repercussions of her betrayal to Bounty and the man she thought she’d spend her life with before she found proof that he’s not the one who’s ‘perfect’ for her.
In my opinion, Everett ‘Snapper’ Kavanaugh is not a typical Chaos Motorcycle Club brother, but it’s not because he’s not bada** or doesn’t exude alpha maleness; it’s more because he has a sweet disposition. And, it’s not to say that Snapper is ‘soft.’ It’s just that he knows that Rosalie needs to be handled with care; he understands the hell she has endured and he refuses to do anything to force her to continue on the ‘rough ride’ she’s been on since her father’s death.
I have to admit that I didn’t know if I was going to be able to accept Rosalie as the heroine of a Chaos story, especially given the circumstances she meets Snapper under and the unease that surrounds her situation due to the fact she started with Shy then moved on to a Bounty Motorcycle Club Biker who proceeded to beat her and allow all of his brothers a go with her broken body then find her ‘perfect’ man while she’s attempting to help her current man get out from under the illegal dealings his club and he are entrenched in…but I do have to say that KA allows readers to understand the meaning and motive behind Rosalie’s actions and what it seems she’s been searching for ever since she lost the one man who protected and loved her unlike anyone she suspects every will again.
Motorcycle Man is one of my favorite books of ALL time; it’s what introduced me to a group of biker brothers who have been through hell and back and still find a way to protect what’s theirs and attempt to ride free and easy despite the maelstroms that look to wreak havoc on their lives and on their club.
Like all Chaos books, the brotherhood is showcased in Rough Ride - the fact that they take care of their own…they’re responsible for one another…they atone when they’re in the wrong and when a brother claims a woman, they are ‘owned’ by the club, which means that there’s a support system in place that will never waiver.
Rough Ride feels a little bit like a segue into the next Chaos book, Hound’s story…because as Snapper and Rosalie get things figured out between them, proving that Rosalie’s ‘rough ride,’ for the most part, is over, the club’s chaos is getting more dangerous and inevitable, forcing action to be taken that might just cost the club and those they love the roughest ride of them all.

Horrible experience. Can’t call this a book or novella if the story concludes in some later to-be-purchased document. This is a tease... but I don’t feel teased or tantalized; I feel disappointed and angry at being cheated / deceived into buying this incomplete story.
I am going to see if there is a way to get a refund for this. Meanwhile, unless you buy this knowing it leaves you hanging till some future purchase, I do not recommend this.
and KA - if you want to be integral with your readers, I recommend you create a special designation for cliff-hanger partial stories, and make that designation super clear pre-purchase, so you don’t disappoint your readers. Daisy and Marcus’s story in 1001 nights was complete (and excellent!) ... I expected the same with this book.
I was excited waiting for this next Chaos episode, but really disappointed. It was very short compared to most of her books. Also, the ending was a complete puzzle as though many pages were missing. I don't know what happened. Ms Ashley is a gifted writer. This is totally unlike her usually thorough character driven stories.
Maybe I'm just getting tired of Kristen's writing style but I could not finish this book. Tried so hard to like it but I can no longer deal with the run on sentences the slang or the fragmented sentences. Time to find a new author!
