I tried my best to like this book but after struggling about half-way through I gave up and skipped to see how it ended. From all the great reviews I understand most people don't feel the way I did about it. I just thought the plot was stupid and I didn't like the main character. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but since I read that Ron Howard was making a movie of it I guess I am in the minority.Tags : Believe Me: The twisty and addictive follow-up to the bestselling The Girl Before - Kindle edition by JP Delaney. Believe Me The twisty and addictive followup to the bestselling The Girl Before edition by JP Delaney Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I finish this book last night!
I read it in 2 day.
I really enjoy this book alot.
It was fast pass and the chapters where short to read.
Anyway this book had me up my feet like what am I reading. I could believe how a person would go to find out the truth. It was shocking. To believe that you would do anything to find out if somebody really murder somebody they so call love. But is it would you.
Claire needs money for rent. So she d disguise herself has a hooker when she really is doing to catching the guys cheating on there husband. She reports back to the wifes. But one day she does this one job and the guy Patrick isn't a cheater. Well when everything happen. Patrick wife was killed and the cops think that Patrick and Claire did it since Claire was the last person to see her alive. She end up working undercover for the Detective. Helping out by making believe she fallen in love with Patrick. But at the same time Patrick is also working under cover for the Detective. When she finds out that he is she flipps. Patrick get female for Claire to kill but she doesn't want to.
Then when she really finds out that he did kill his wife and also other female over the years.
Detector get him and arrest him.
The whole time Claire was acting. She made believe she loved him and everything. She was helping out the cops to catch him.
Also she got paid to do it and she also got her green card.
The case was close! Her job was done!
What a great read! This had me hooked from the beginning. What a Rollercoaster! The sitting, theme, and the Characters had me pulled so in. Everything was well put together and it was just perfect. This novel would have you guess and thinking all the way to the end. What a great thrill and suspense. I love a great suspense that would have me think and guessing. This novel did just that to me. To the point that am wrong. When the ending comes am on shock. I wouldn't of never believe or guess. Like OMG!
Highly recommend everybody get this book and read it. Its so good!
Can't wait for his next book.
The author has created a number of twists and turns to this novel but it basically makes no sense. The main characters are into kinky stuff that has no interest to me. Didn't really like any of them.
Believe Me by J.P. Delaney is a "read in one sitting" type of book.
I had previously read and enjoyed "The Girl Before" and based on that had apparently pre-ordered Believe Me, then promptly forgot about it, until I found it downloaded on my yesterday.
Like "The Girl Before", "Believe Me" is marketed as a psychological thriller, and is written from a first person perspective in (oh horror of horrors) present tense.
Believe Me feels backed by a lot of solid research, only instead of architecture, this time, the subject of study is acting. In the main protagonist Claire, the writer creates an interesting character, well defined, fully formed, and yet at the same time, not there at all. While the main storyline is quite nice and well paced, the real journey of discovery here is in the fluid folding and unfolding and revelation of Claire's character. It demands suspension of belief, blind trust and an ability to just enjoy the story.
It would certainly bear up under many re-readings because this is the sort of book which would probably reveal something new each time.
Exquisite. I've pre-ordered The Perfect Wife.
I love The Girl Before so much, I’ve read it twice within a year. I’ve been anxiously awaiting Believe Me, and wondering if it could live up to TGB.
It does. It’s completely different, but just as good. It’s a total mindf**k. I didn’t know from page to page who or what to believe. Who to trust, to like. Who was motivated by what.
This book made me think, in a fun way, as if it’s a very complicated puzzle. Things are not spelled out for the reader. There are twists galore, but they’re very organic to the story and characters — not forced, not included so the book could be “The Next Gone Girl and Girl On A Train!”. I felt like I was caught in a literary maze and wondered where the he** I’d come out. I didn’t know until the very end. It wasn’t completely shocking, but didn’t need to be, because you know by then it could go so many different ways.
My review is vague, because I don’t want to do spoilers ... it’s hard to do a decent synopsis without them. And after reading, I still question one of the main characters, and what their motivations were.
This is a great book for a serious book club. I think everyone reading might come up with their own unique takes on things.
I’m so impressed with this author and highly recommend both books.
